On the Road

I love driving the roads less travelled and find myself able to stop and take pictures along the back roads. Many times, these are the pictures that make up my photo a day on Instagram. 

I'm the kinda girl who often drives with the window down, even though the air conditioner works in the truck and its 90+ degrees outside. I'm also the girl who thinks that the road ways look awesome when everyone else thinks they are overgrown. I love the quite of a dirt road and the peaceful journey to enjoy the beauty. 

I'm not a big crowd person, so the black top suits me well. 

This picture along the back roads reminds me of a line from the song Get Your Shine On when it says "summer sky dripping rhinestones." 

I stopped and picked a few wildflowers one evening on the way home from work. 

While I prefer the back roads, sometimes we do have to travel the four lane highway...

Thankfully the mowing crews haven't mowed all my favorite roads yet or most of these pictures wouldn't exist.

A Spring Garden Tour

 

 

 

It's been a while since I shared pictures from my yard and garden, so I thought I would show you around for a few miutes. Almost all of my plants are in rusty, recycled, repurposed containers.

 

 

From vintage bed pans, chicken wateres and rusty water jugs, elevated on an old crock pot bowl...

to more rusty chicken feeders...

Our kitty cat loves to sit on the gazebo rail among the roses. The old chair holds a big pot of oregano. I love being able to go out and pick fresh herbs from the yard.

My green onions growing in a trash can! I seldom buy green onions at the store (usually at Christmas time for cooking), but when I do, I never throw any part of them away. I used the tops of the onion in my tortilla rollup recipe and then  I planted the bottom part in this old trash can and look at them now.

 

I'll try to share more garden pics soon! All these pictures where taken with my iPhone - does anyone know of a good blogger app? I email my pics to blogger, then have to edit and create my post on computer...

Katie tweeted me last week and shared a picture of her burlap and lace wedding bouquet. I looked at her twitter pictures and fell in love with this vintage barn scene.

 

 

@kt_cook922  tweeted the following picture and said: "@gypsyfarmgirl Loved my bouquet from my September wedding! & Janice was super nice to work with! Thanks again!! :)"

 

We tweeted back and forth a few times and I ask her if I could feature her wedding pictures here on my blog. She said yes, and sent me a few more pics!

 

Burlap Bouquets and  Cowboy Boots!

Katie chose a Cream and Tan Burlap and Lace Bridal Bouquet from my etsy store. Pearl accents were added to the center of each rose.
