10 Random Thoughts and Pictures

It's been a busy week on the go and I thought this was going to be a quite week! So hears a few scenes from the week

1. Sunset from the farm on Friday night - If you look close, one lone cow can be seen through the smoke settling over the pasture from a nearby property. 

2. Leaves are changing colors and falling fast. 

3. Cow silhouettes at sunset are one of my favorite things and those big ears!

3. Not so favorite thing - being wet and cold. Granted, I am very thankful for rain, I just don't like cold rain and getting soaked or having to wear too many layers to move and still being chilled to the bone. #readyforspring 

4. Daylight savings time... I'll gladly give up an hours sleep to spring forward again. All the clocks in the house haven't been changed yet.

5. I begged Jeff to drive one day, so I could do some hand sewing for a bouquet. #multitasking

6. These 2... sharing lunch at the DQ! We made the big loop Friday to the farm, shipping cattle, lunch at Dairy Queen, then went on to restock our Uniques and Antiques booth, then back home again. I "work from home" although I drove about 150-175 miles yesterday for work...

If you read my blog post from a few weeks ago, you'll know Trixie loves DQ and yes, she insisted upon going yet again! 

7. I packed up orders, including this bouquet, then headed off to the post office and skated in there with 3 minutes to spare - crazy Friday afternoon traffic in a small town... geez Loiuse! I could not deal with big city traffic.

8. Turquoise Shiny Brites... all the heart eyes! If I had room to put up a big tree in the house, these would not be available in our Uniques and Antiques booth. 

9. Santa Flannels arrived in our booth yesterday! One sweet customer bought a flannel before I ever got it hung up and several more of our rustic Christmas decorations. P.S. If you are reading this... Thanks Again, it was so nice to talk with you!

10. I officially became a coffee drinker this week! I ran out of orange juice before we could get back to the grocery store and Jeff made me some coffee. I doctored it up a little bit and I think I'm going to be hooked! My tumbler has been filled with coffee on several of our cold trips this week... pssstt,  there are new yeti style cup wraps in my shop.

Sunset

Ahhh, a beautiful sunset tonight! 

The last few days / weeks have felt like I was stuck in a rut. The same routine, working long hours, working on weddings and getting ready for our fall shows. Not that I'm complaining  about work, I'm always thankful for it, but something seemed bland. Not much exciting happening this week, although October has some big things on tap.  I was supposed to be washing dishes, but walked outside with the dogs, and we had to stay a little bit, as the sunset was brilliantly painted in the sky. God's Masterpiece was expertly created and telling me everything will come together, in His time. 

Here's the series of pics, all within 10 minutes and as quickly as it appeared, it was gone. 

 

Sunset and Storms

This happened this evening! Thought it was pretty cool to capture the storm clouds to the east and the sunset to the west.

 Photos taken with my phone, no edits, standing on the back of the truck in our driveway! We didn't get any rain - we were the blue spot in the middle. 

Fireworks!

Thanks to several of our neighbors, we were able to photograph 3 separate fireworks shows from our yard tonight! Last night, we watched two t38/f5 jet airplanes as they made several loops just west of our house, as they were stalling before their appearance at the airshow in town. We didn't leave home and still had a good 4th!

I was anticipating the neighbors fireworks, so earlier in the day, I got my camera battery charged, set my manual settings and found my tripod. 

We sat outside and watched the sunset this evening. This was the view from our driveway, with just a couple minor edits. (Taken with my phone.) When I heard the first firecrackers, I went inside and grabbed my camera. 

I was excited to catch a few good shots, since it wasn't a continuos show and I didn't know which direction to focus on. 

Through the pines - this was the farthest away and what was visible over the pine trees in the distance. Kind of like a Christmas tree topper!

I needed this...

Over the past two weeks, it's rained, sleeted, rained some more, snowed, iced, rained again and again, we briefly saw the sun, might I add briefly, it came a monsoon, ok, just rained a lot more, iced, and snowed again. I've been deprived of sun and sunsets, which are crucial to my well being :) 

Now, I try really hard not to complain about rain, because all life depends upon water, we pray for rain all summer, it's a necessary element of life... But I missed the sun and gosh, it's been cold. 

Today was fabulous! Beautiful sunshine and mid 60's. This afternoon, clouds started to roll in (more rain forecasted for the next two days) and I was hoping it was going to set up a beautiful painting in the sky. I was on the way home from the farm and wasn't disappointed! 

This is not a lake, it's a creek bottom flooded by all the rain. The sunset and reflections in the flood water made all the rain worth it! 

It's a less travelled back road and I was able to stop and take several pictures with my phone and enjoy the moment. 

I got my sun fix, so I think I'll be able to deal with the next rainy spell with a better attitude.  And hey 50 degrees and rain is way better than in the 30's and rain, sleet, and snowing...

The Sunset

Friday night's sunset will be one I won't soon forget and others will be compared to. 

I was headed home on the back roads and the sky came to life. It had been pretty bland earlier, so I never expected such a show. I love being on the quite black top and being able to come to a screeching halt, jump out of the truck and capture the moment. The steers were curious as to what I was doing and lined up nicely on the horizon for me. 

 I'm sure no one else notices it as they drive by, but I love the old wooden post and rusty barbed wire of this fence. To me, it's so photogenic, especially when there's an awesome sunset behind it. 

The fabulous show has surely made up for all the gloomy winter days. 

I finally got back in my truck and headed on down the black top. This was my last picture before I got on the highway. I'm so glad I get to drive west in the afternoons and can enjoy the painting in the sky. By the way, no edits or filters were applied, just my watermark. 

 

Dreaming of Fall Sunflowers and Sunsets

The days are slowly getting shorter and the sunsets are coming earlier. I've got mixed emotions about it though- fall is one of my favorite times of year, but I hate the days getting shorter.  Fall festivals, cooler weather, sunflowers, pumpkins, and scarecrows I love. Dark at 6:00, I despise. 

Lately I've been dreaming about fall. Partly because school supplies are in the stores and I've passed the football field and saw the boys of fall starting their workouts. I've been getting more request for sunflower and burlap bouquets and have felt inspired to create some new products for my shop. 

Sunset on the backroads- I had to stop for this one and take a picture! I love the wheat and grasses swaying along the fence row.

I added this sunflower bridal bouquet and wreath to my shop this week. Along with the sunflowers, fall leaves, lotus pods, orange ranunculus, pine cones, feathers and berries are included in the bouquet. 

Burlap roses and ivory lace are also included in the bridal bouquet. 

This rustic natural colored grapevine wreath had woodsy stems of lotus pods, grapevine balls, pheasant feathers and a giant brown sunflower.
