Kadyn and Matt's Burlap and Lace Vintage Farm Wedding

I had the pleasure of coordinating, decorating, and photographing
Kadyn and Matt's Vintage Farm Wedding
 this past weekend.
It was a fun, western / vintage wedding and Kadyn carried a burlap and lace bridal bouquet.

I have known Kadyn for many years and was honored to work with her family to create her dream wedding.

She wanted a very country, western, in the cow pasture wedding and we did our best to bring her ideas to life. I surprised them with a Junk Gypsy Inspired Photo Booth (in back ground). Read about the photo booth and see it Here.

The bridesmaids wore boots with dresses and denim jackets and carried bouquets of sunflowers and white daisies. The hand tied bouquets were wrapped with burlap and then accented with lace ribbon.

The ceremony and reception was held in a cow pasture on a very windy afternoon. The parents and grandparents sat on rows of hay bales covered with vintage quilts, while guest were casually seated around wooden spools.

As I mentioned earlier, it was very windy on the day of the wedding. Nothing would stand upright, without being secured. With 30 Mason Jar centerpieces, we had to come up with a plan to keep flowers on the burlap covered tables. Someone came up with the idea to place nails around the fruit jars. So three hours before the wedding, we secured the wildflowers to the table! The table clothes had to be stapled down as well.

This was one of my favorite pictures from the entire wedding! The two ring bearers were absolutely adorable. One led the couple's dog, Sadie, while the other carried a "Here Comes the Bride" sign.

Kadyn's only request for flowers was: white daisies, sunflowers, and "those flowers that grow on the side of the road", with a yellow and white color scheme. The centerpieces consisted of white daisies, sundaisies, yellow buttons, solidago, babies breath, and verigated pitt.

I had originally ask Kadyn to help me model a few bouquets for my store, then a few weeks later she ask me to design her wedding. She chose to carry a burlap and lace wedding bouquet with tan, chocolate, and cream colored burlap and ivory lace. I ask her mother to keep the lace when the dress alterations were complete and was able to add some of that lace to her bouquet. As a surprise to Kadyn, three pair of her grandmother's earrings were included in the bouquet.

Some of the rusty planters from my yard were used as centerpieces on the tables. This is one of my rustic chicken feeders, surrounded by lace.

Kadyn's mother is one of my best friends. She worked very hard to gather up lots of the supplies, vintage doors, decorations, quilts, and lace for the wedding. I enjoyed working with her to create her daughters wedding.  I want to say thank you to Kadyn for being such a wonderful bride to work with and send my Best Wishes to Kadyn and Matt for a very happy and healthy marriage together.

(I took over 600 pictures at the wedding, so I'll have many more pictures and details to share very soon! )

Chocolate Delight - Brownie Truffle

I've never been the type that considered myself a great cook, even though I have a Best of Show Plaque from a pie contest. This week though, people have been calling me and asking for some of my recipes. It kind of flattering that someone wants to fix one of my recipes.

I've made a Chocolate Delight or Brownie Truffle in the past and have plans to make a sugar free version for Christmas Eve. I was on my way home from work one evening this week and was thinking about my Christmas list and wanted to give a little something more than I already had purchased and wrapped for my co-workers. That's when it hit me! I could make the dessert in fruit jars for each person.
Chocolate Delight

The recipe is very easy, but the results are oh so yummy!

Start out by making a 9x13 pan of Brownies. You can make them from your favorite scratch recipe or from a box (like I did). Let the brownies cool, before you continue to the next part. If time is an issue, make the brownies one day and assemble the next.

Next mix 2 boxes of White Chocolate Jello with 1/2 cup Coffee, and 1 1/2 cups milk. Then fold in 1 Large tub of Cool Whip. Now you are ready to assemble the truffle.

Crumble up the brownies in the bottom of the fruit jars (I used 4 wide mouth quart jars for this recipe) or a truffle dish. Next add the pudding mix. You can refrigerate till serving time. Before serving sprinkle with Heath Bar Toffee Pieces. Since I was giving this as a gift, I tied the toffee in a small bag and attached to the outside of the jar.

I decorated the jars with a strip of burlap, some lace and assorted ribbons, then made a tag from scrapbook paper. Since I made 4 quarts, the pudding mixture didn't quite fill the jar up, but nobody knew the difference with the cute decorations to the jar!

I have been ask to bring the desserts for our family gathering this week and have two people who are diabetic. I will be making this recipe with Sugar Free Brownie Mix, Pudding, and Cool Whip so they can enjoy it too.

So if you are in need of a super easy handmade gift or need to take a dessert somewhere, this is sure to please everyone!

"Precious Memories" Shabby Chic Lamp

After recently hitting up an estate sale and a few garage sales, I decided to use my "new" finds to create a very shabby chic lamp. I found this old Mason jar lamp base in my stash recently and knew I wanted to do something very creative with it.

I placed the lamp on my bed side table. I have a jewelry holder located on the wall above this table, hence all the necklaces hanging in the background.
Remember this picture from my road trip Saturday? I printed it out on my home printer and then matted it with chocolate burlap, with the help of mod podge glue.

I used lots of pearls, buttons, burlap, and vintage lace inside the large fruit jar.

I had some vintage style scrapbooking stickers (the calendar and stamps) that I glued to burlap and lace.

I grew up in church singing hymns out of the Heavenly Highway Hymnal and when a friend give me one of the old hymnals from his junk pile, I knew I would use the sheet music in craft projects. I'm calling this lamp "Precious Memories," because I used the hymn to create two paper flowers that are inside this lamp. I layered all of the elements till I had it just like I wanted.

I will admit I bought the lamp shade new {gasp}. I wanted to finish the project over the weekend and just didn't have a lamp shade that would work. I used spray adhesive on the lamp shade then rolled burlap over the shade. I then used the lace trim around the bottom edge. I decided to loop more pearls over the lamp shade and took burlap strings (ravels) to tie the pearls to the burlap.
I elevated the lamp by sitting it on top of the Heavenly Highway Hymnal and a vintage dictionary. I'm excited how my little lamp turned out!
