"Making Me Look Good Again"

I've been working on some new products this summer and finally was able to have a photo shoot this week. I'm excited to reveal some of the new items that are now available in my etsy shop

Fall fashion, decor, rustic plus new styles of elegant fabric bouquets were combined for a fun day of staging and photographing everything in front of my glamper, along with watching the solar eclipse!
Gussie the Glamper, vintage camper used for photo shoot

Last month, when I ask for everyone's favorite songs and created the free Spotify playlist, I was reminded of many old favorites and introduced to several new songs. One of those was "Making Me Look Good Again" by Drake White. One of the verses jumped out at me and described some of the items on my work bench and a vision I had for my photo shoot.

Leather and lace,
Denim and pearls,
Whiskey and wine,
They go just fine,
Like you and me girl...

Leather and Lace... and FRINGE! Yes, please.

Tommy Hilfiger Purse with added fringe

I added chocolate brown fringe to this Tommy Hilfiger purse and created the lace fringe purse with vintage linens I found at a recent estate sale.

these are ready to ship bouquets, although customization's and coordinating bridesmaid bouquets are possible!

rose gold wedding flowers

Rose gold and cream colors with rhinestones and pearls.

Turquoise satin with vintage pearls and jewels.

Romantic wine, blush pink, and cream...

I use wine bottles to hold all the bouquets while I make them and that whisky bottle is just cool western decor to me! I bought the guitar with intentions to make it over (paint, bling, etc) although Jeff has objections and doesn't want me to "ruin" it, so the jury is still out on what will happen with it! For now, photo prop...

One side of me loves the muted. natural colors while the other side screams for bright colors and excitement... They merge together just fine for an eclectic style. Granddaddy always said "You're one of a kind girl, you are one of a kind." I've decided he was absolutely right and wouldn't have it any other way!  All the clothing items and some arrangements are one-of-a-kind, so make sure you get them while they last!

Jeff was great to help me get everything set up and put away when I was finished. This is what my table looked like in the middle of my shoot... My big tumbler (I filled it up 6 times that day - It was hot, y'all) and his coffee cup and two pair of welding goggles for viewing the eclipse! We had a partial eclipse here and would look up every little while.

I also had a sweet "helper" part of the time! She likes to be in the middle of everything!

A few of the items have already sold, although most can still be found in my shop and can be shipped worldwide or I can meet/deliver if in the local area. The red fringe jacket is not listed in my shop, although if you are interested, it is a size medium and I would sell it. Technically its not vintage and I didn't make or altered it in any way, so I can't list it on etsy...Send me a message!

As always, I THANK YOU for supporting handmade! Your support is very much appreciated!

Free Spirit

free spirit
noun
a person with a highly individual or unique attitude, lifestyle, or imagination; nonconformist.

2 years ago, I met a bride for the first time and after talking for a little bit, she said "you're a free spirit..." and we got a long great and the wedding was fabulous! It was the best compliment!

Embrace it, accept it, be unique... DON'T be like the rest of them, darling!

For as long as I can remember, my granddaddy always told me "you're one of a kind girl, you're one of a kind." At times I wanted to fit in, but now, I'm totally embracing the uniqueness of who I am. I hope you'll  do the same!

(Found the Free Spirit Tee a few weeks ago and had to have it! Denim and lace skirt and dream catcher available in my shop. I'm not exactly model material,  so I won't be quitting my day job to pursue that avenue, but hey I wanted to show the skirt on, so you could see it better than simply hanging on a rack. There's a couple that are like this and several other one of a kind denim and lace skirts, dresses, shirts, and jackets available.

Live - Work - Create

So much has been happening recently, I totally missed the end of the month recap and video for August.
Lots of late night sewing, getting ready for our fall markets.
Sweet little girls clothes, getting a lacy little makeover.
One of my customers wanted an easel for her 104 granddaddy, who I didn't know. She told me he was country and wanted a tractor and cow included. She sent a note saying it fit his personality and style perfectly!

Of course, preparation for lots of fall weddings is underway and several wedding orders have been made and shipped out to brides across the country.
This one is burnt orange and jade (light turquoise / aqua).
Red, white and tan burlap bouquet with feathers.

Traffic one morning! Not my cows (thank goodness), but I thought they made a pretty morning picture!

Camo, orange, turquoise, tan, and white burlap, lace, and feather bouquets, boutonnières, corsages, and headbands.
A first peek at one of my new pillows that will be available soon!
I'm a self taught seamstress and I don't know much about trouble shooting when things mess up. I hope you all have a friend that you can send this picture to and in one text message, she can tell you what to try and you get back to sewing immediately! Thank goodness for Angea, because I just knew my sewing machine was messed up bad. (P.S. She said rethread the machine and change needles.  I had recently broke a needle and must have had something wrong with new needle.)
Turquoise bouquets!
It had been a couple years since I had made any church flowers. When I left the flower shop in town, I hadn't intended to do fresh flowers anymore. By request, I had started doing a few special events and I ran into one of my former customers at one. She was upset that I hadn't called her and let her know I was doing fresh flowers occasionally and wanted me to do her church arrangement this year, in honor of her mother's birthday. We didn't even have to discuss what she wanted, I already knew her favorites- all pink roses, gladiolus, and stargazer lilies.

Birthday arrangements
Flossie says Hi and that it rained a lot in August, but we are appreciative of the rain and cooler weather.
Navy burlap and lace bouquets - I  had someone request a larger version of the standard size bridal bouquet (on right). Special request and sizes are available, so if you want something bigger, just ask!
A personalized wedding album.
This welcome rope wreath went to South Dakota and marks the 47th state I've shipped to!
I sewed be up a fun little something with flannel and lace.  I know what I'm wearing to our market, if'n the weather is just cool enough, but not too cold!
Love the all neutral colored burlap bouquets!
The rain has been good for the flowers! My lantana is blooming pretty again and is over 6 feet tall.
This week was Gilmer Homecoming and mums and garters are a big thing in the south. I did several school spirit items and delivered to the schools. Here's a few different ones I made this week. I'm
curious, do you celebrate homecoming and have mums in your area?

Between everything else, we are working hard to get ready for our Yamboree and Backwood's Marketplace booths. I'm making some wooden signs. Several are painted on each side and have a similar word on the reverse side.
Friday afternoon, after everything was delivered and shipped for the week, I decided it was time to clean up Miss Gussie the Glamper
And prop my feet up for a little while!
A great big THANK YOU to everyone for letting me help with your special events.  I appreciate each and everyone of you!
