Looking back on this week...

It's been a busy week on the go, with lots of pretty flowers, a little bit of junk, and some cows and farm work thrown in!

Monday started off with me picking up flowers and creating wedding bouquets for a Tuesday wedding. Yes, you read that right, the wedding was on Tuesday, but I'm not sure the significance of that day. I was sent two pictures of the gorgeous stained glass windows in the church and a couple of screen shots from pinterest of flower crown ideas. The bride said she wasn't picky, wanted something to coordinate with the stained glass in shades of red, blue, purple, green, and a touch of gold.

This was her bridal bouquet! Red roses, blue hydrangeas, blue thistle, delphinium, purple larkspur, millet, hypericum berries, scabiosa pods, bronze amaranthus, and assorted greenery comprised the bridal bouquet and alter arrangements.

The bride was gorgeous and I hope to be able to feature her pictures here soon.

I think this was the first flowers crown I have made with fresh flowers! I  was a little nervous about it, but think it tuned out great for her.
The bride definitely wore it better than me...The flowers were delivered Tuesday on my way to some appointments.
Tuesday also brought about a surprise share from Junkyjoey on facebook and lots of new faces on my page! So to all of you I say Welcome and Thank You!
Fall tin pumpkin signs

Hurricane Irma brought cloud cover and cool weather to East Texas on Tuesday as well. I did some mowing at the farm, while checking on the cows and horses.
Homecoming time for the Gilmer Buckeyes! I took some special request for mums and delivered on Wednesday, along with getting my yearly haircut, meeting with other customers and shipping out flannels and more tin pumpkins.
Thursday of course is junkin' day with Angea! We restocked our Uniques and Antiques booth and did a short video discussing some of the items in our space.

This suitcase is in our booth now and it describes this week! Lots of wondering and wandering, but we aren't lost!

Checking cows Thursday and all the babies had to gather around my truck and attempt to wash it! Ha! Between the dirt roads, summer ending on a dry  and dusty note, and driving in the pasture, this truck can't stay clean.
I finished up some more wedding flowers, including this sunflower and burlap bouquet with feathers and dried wheat.

When I filled out my planner on Sunday night, I thought my key events for the week would be over by noon on Friday and I was going to be a "hermit" on Saturday and work on new items, spend extra time at the farm, or just hang out, without makeup or fixing my hair. Well, plans change and I was asked to design flowers for a couple of funeral services this weekend, so I went to pick up more flowers and created tributes for them.
masculine fall flowers
The fall flowers are just the prettiest and I think most elegant of the year! I love the rich and deep colors... These kind clients simply ask for fall flowers and said "we trust you." I went to the wholesale floral supply and hand picked all the flowers for the arrangements. Saturday they told me the flowers were "more than they ever could have imagined" and received so many compliments.

Now for Saturday, the day I was going to be a hermit! My friend called me and said there was some barns she was helping a friends clean out that had my name wrote all over it. That most of the stuff was going in the trash or burn pile if I didn't come rescue it. Well of course, I had to go pickin' through the barns and rescued a couple of truck loads of treasures!
Gone Junkin'!
I got my first load early, went home to unload, change clothes, eat a sandwich and then make and deliver more flowers for another service, have more flower consultations, and then I went back for another load of junk.

For this service, the family wanted bright colors, with sunflowers, blue, red, purple, and white flowers.

I came home as the sun was fading lower in the sky, with another load of rusty treasures. From farm implements and tractor parts, to old chairs, shelves, bricks, chicken crates, cages, and all kinds of rusty buckets, tools, and that huge mailbox! We've got a little surprise project we are working on and some of these new found items will surely find new life with it.

It's been a super busy week and I am thankful for all of you who allow me to be a part of it! May all of our new friends find it welcoming here at GypsyFarmGirl and Janice East Designs (my fresh flower site)! I appreciate all of you who allow me to be a part of your weddings, events, or ask me to create tributes for your loved ones, the friends who pass along your referrals,  the ones who share your junk with me or share my post with others, and those who wear something I've made or decorate your homes with some of my hand made items. Thanks for being a part of my tribe! Y'all are the BEST!!!

New, Ready to Ship Rustic Wedding Bouquets

I've been working on several new, ready to ship, rustic bridal bouquets this week. I've added them to my shop this afternoon!

I had a customer inquire about a turquoise and coral burlap, lace, and brooch bouquet and was inspired to create this one. I have made a similar one, without the coral, but decided since the colors are popular wedding colors and I had some coral brooches and lace on hand, I would make one.

With fall approaching (can it hurry and cool off,) I am always inspired to create the sunflower and burlap bouquets for fall weddings. This is a variation of my popular sunflower, burlap rose, and pheasant feather bouquet. One of the foliage a in the other bouquet, from a few season back, has been discontinued, so I found a type of wheat grass to make a substitution for the wispy grass. I hope you will like it just as much as the previous version.

Denim and lace! Denim hydrangea blooms are nestled among creamy burlap roses and assorted lace, doilies, and pearls.

Another sunflower bouquet with tan and brown burlap roses and white lace. Pearls accent the roses and a pearl garland wraps the handle of the bouquet holder.

Fall is my favorite season and I love all the colors and rich textures of autumn! Sunflowers, burlap roses, dried yarrow and babies breath, feathers, berries, leaves, and vintage ivory lace and pearls create this bouquet. The first picture has it displayed in a mason jar. For your wedding reception, you can display the bouquet on your bridal table in a similar jar or vase.

All of these bouquets are currently available and ready to ship. If you need coordinating bouquets for bridesmaids, boutonnieres for the guys or corsages for mother, grandmothers, etc. please let me know and I can create a custom listing for you.

I'm looking forward to helping you!

Blush pink and turquoise burlap wedding bouquets

When a blingy, jade / light turquoise / aqua burlap bouquet

meets blush burlap, they collide and

You get a gorgeous blush pink and turquoise wedding bouquet!

This custom bouquet went out to an excited bride to be this week!

Blush and white lace, along with pearls and rhinestones were nestled among the roses, creating a rustic romantic arrangement.

I am loving this combination! I was cleaning up in the camper a couple nights ago and realized I had a turquoise and pink scheme going on in there as well. It kind of snuck in there, as I've never been much of a pink girl. There's something about old tattered quilts and hankies, that seems to go great with vintage lace and a little turquoise thrown in!

2015 Wedding Color Ideas

I've been doing some research on the new Wedding Color Trends and found this color chart for the
Top 10 Wedding Color Ideas for 2015.
I posted the picture on Instagram and hosted an informal survey on which combinations where everyone's favorites. Navy, Cream, and Blush was the top answer, so I decided to design a bouquet with those colors in mind. (It is currently available in my etsy shop for immediate shipping.) I used lots of vintage lace and pearl accents for this bouquet.

I've also noticed that my navy burlap bouquet has been getting pinned/repinned alot recently. I love the combination, although, I have been surprised that it has been trending more than the turquoise bouquets.
In this past, I've had several request for the shades of Purple, Lavender,  and Yellow and have these colors available to create more custom arrangements.
This was Royal Green and Kelly Green bridesmaid bouquet as part of a custom order last year.

I think the Pink, Khaki, Grey combination is pretty and very much girly, glam. I can see this bouquet being presented to a girl after a dance, cheer or music recital or used for a flower girl or junior bridesmaid to carry. All girls love pink, feathers, and bling!
The shades of Brown and Ivory burlap and lace is always a great combination for vintage, rustic style weddings and will compliment many different shades of bridesmaid dresses.
Sage and Sandalwood  - This was the sage, tan, brown, and cream bouquet that recently shipped to Switzerland for a 2015 wedding.
Sometimes, with hard to match colors, such as the Sangria, Silver, and Lavender, an all white bouquet with lots of silver bling is the way to go.

Gold, Cream, and Burgundy - while there's not any burgundy in this brooch bouquet,
it would certainly compliment a burgundy and gold wedding color scheme.
This Coral, Peach, and White bouquet would stand out against a Powder Blue (or most any shade of turquoise, teal, or blue) bridesmaid dress. This bouquet had a dozen burlap roses, coral lace, and vintage white lacy ribbon and pearls. Its a great bridesmaid size or a small bridal bouquet. Leave out the coral and it would go with a Periwinkle and Peach color scheme.

Of course, no matter what a color trend chart says, Turquoise along with shades of brown and cream is always a popular choice for my customers! I know that I will continue to wear lots of  turquoise and all my orders this week have had either turquoise or jade (teal) burlap as part of their color scheme. This was the first bouquet order of 2015.

This is a wristlet corsage with the Jade burlap - perfect for the mothers of the bride and groom to wear.
I would be happy to help create one of a kind, keepsake bouquets for your wedding.
Please message me through etsy and I would be happy to help you by creating custom bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages or other wedding related items that you may need. Its always exciting to see the different color combinations that brides choose.  As I was doing inventory this week, I counted up over 32 shades of burlap in stock. I've got several new shades of  burlap  to reveal very soon and have a new combination to create next week.

What are your favorite color combinations for the new year?
