Brenda Photo Challenge - Frozen

This weeks Brenda Photo Challenge is Frozen.
We seldom ever get snow and ice around these parts of Texas, but a few weeks ago, we received a wintery blast. I was rewarded with a good photo opportunity!

Royal had ice in his mane. The view on the oil road as I travelled to work a few days after the snow had fallen
I put out some fresh bird seed for the birds and in appreciation, this cardinal let me take his portrait!

I'm so glad that the photo challenge has started up again, I have certainly missed participating!

Frugal Fashionista Fashion Show

Balancing Beauty and Bedlam is hosting the Frugal Fashionista Fashion Show were fashionable outfits cost less than $15.00 total and must be second hand.

This FarmGirl loves to shop a garage sale and has several outfits that would qualify!  I have a friend that has frequent garage sales and will even let me try on stuff before purchasing; I call her "my personal shopper"!

I never shop the mall and would never pay full price for a pair Ambercrombie and Fitch jeans, but I snagged this pair for $3.00 at a garage sale. The Calvin Klein shirt was a steal at the same sale for just a dollar and my Rafaella corduroy jacket was purchased for just a dollar as well, on a hot summer garage sale run. Even though you can't see my Brown's Landing leather shoes, they were free. A co-worker let me rummage through some of her shoes before she donated them to a resale shop. I made my silver beaded earrings that happen to match the beads on the shirt ( I had the earrings first.)

Total Cost of Outfit = $5.00

If you count the fifteen dollars cash I found in the pocket of another pair of jeans that I bought along with the jeans and shirt above, I guess it would make that FREE!

Bling Bling Caps

One of my many recent projects is creating bling bling caps and visors. I made several for Christmas presents and now I am making some for me! I made this "smokin' gun" cap this weekend.

My friends that have been wearing the caps around town have been ask "where'd you get the cap", so I take that as a compliment. One even said I could make and sell some in her store! So I must get started on creating some inventory!

Cardinals

The one (and only) good thing about snow is the great photo opportunity it gave me this week. I scattered some bird seed about in the fresh snow and the birds immediately flocked to the front yard with this cardinal cooperating with me capturing his picture. I haven't been the best at keeping feed out in the front yard for the birds this winter. My husband realized the other day that our one lonely chicken sure was eating a lot of feed and then I pointed out the large assortment of birds who congregated in the trees around the pen and subsequently descended upon the fresh scratch as soon as he left the area. It was amazing how fast the birds flocked to the front yard when I filled up their feeder and scattered about fresh grains in the snow.

I hope you are having a wonderful week and staying warm! I know that I'm looking foward to some warmer temperatures this weekend as I've had all the cold I can stand for a while.
