Flowers for The Laminack Wedding

This weekend, I had the privilege of designing flowers for the Laminack Wedding! I think this is my new favorite bridal bouquet! Of course, I've been known to say that before. I love all the different flowers, greenery, and textures involved in the bouquet. They wanted a rich, organic, natural style in shades of burgundy, cream, and green. I was able to work with a few different flowers, that I had never used before, so that was exciting.

The groom's mother was my high school art teacher and she made the wedding sign. The wedding was at their home and they did a beautiful job with everything.

Bridesmaid bouquets - they carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet, with dahlias, roses, hydrangea, scabiosa flowers and pods, assorted berries, and foliage. I always love a lush and pretty bridesmaids bouquet.

An un-forecasted rain shower came over the area, as I was loading the flowers to deliver and it rained while I was working on the arch. Thankfully, it was just a light shower and it settled the dust, moved through quickly and the sun came out shortly. They let me use their mule, instead of a ladder and it was great! I had all my flowers handy, a roof for a table top to set my wire and scissors on, and I didn't have to go up and down a ladder one million times!

Sophisticated Swamp Bayou

"Sophisticated Swamp Bayou"

That was the theme for an event I designed fresh flowers for this weekend! It was a new theme for me and I loved all the textures, flowers and foliage that was used to create these arrangements.
My customer was taking them out of town, so I haven't seen them all displayed on the tables at the historic plantation setting.
When a friend heard the theme, she said "I didn't know the swamp could be sophisticated."  When I sent her one of the pictures of the completed arrangements, she replied "Yessss! You really can be SSB!"
Bells of Ireland, green hydrangeas, trick, fujis, trachelium, silver dollar eucalyptus, amaranthus, alium, explosion grass, curly willow, pussy willow branches, lotus pods, and Spanish mosh created the swampy bayou look.

These where fun to make and I heard everyone liked them at the event! Makes me want to have a swamp party- how about you?!?

Big Trucks and Flowers!

I had the privilege of designing flowers for a recent Trucking Technology Program at the civic center.

Yes, that is a big Peterbilt truck inside the building! The arrangements had red roses, gladiolus, ginger, white hydrangeas, larkspur, and snapdragons and assorted greenery.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special event!

Once a Florist, Always a Florist

I previously worked as a  lead floral designer at a flower shop for 15 years, before GypsyFarmGirl became my full time business. When I left the flower shop (Christmas 2014), I had no plans for doing fresh flowers in the future. I was devoting myself to my burlap wedding bouquets, online boutique, a few vintage markets with my glamper and wherever my path might lead. Well, there's a saying around the floral business "once a florist, always a florist" and so it seems, it's a part of who I am and there is no escaping it and it is a part of my path! With my last business card order, I made some edits and added "freelance florist" to my description.

I'm honored that former customers, friends and new acquaintances have called and ask for me to design flowers for their special occasions, events, and funeral needs. While I don't keep fresh flowers in stock all the time, I am happy to help with local events, with enough notice and minimum order. Occasionally I will have some extra flowers left after an event and will post on Facebook and Instagram, if anyone wants a special bouquet, without having to preorder or a minimum order. I work from my home and deliver locally or I am  available to work on location for weddings and events. I decided to create a new tab for my blog that is devoted to the fresh flowers, to showcase some of the custom designs I have created and I'll continue to add more pictures as time progresses.

My customer shared a few examples of ideas she liked and trusted me to create a casket spray and coordinating easels in shades of pink and purple for them. I was able to source flowers from three suppliers to get the freshest flowers for their order. An assortment of delphinium, larkspur, snapdragons, stock, callas, stargazer lilies, several types of roses, carnations, and status was used to complete the designs.
