Junk in the Trunk - My First Show

I'm excited to be participating as a vendor in the Harmony P.T.O. Junk in the Trunk show this Saturday!

I've always had a desire to set up and sell my goods at a show, but its just never happened. It was a spur of the moment invitation that led me to sign up for this event. Its just a few miles from home and takes place this Saturday from 8-1 pm, so it's not a major overnight trip for my first, but hopefully not last  show.

I'm gathering my inventory and display pieces, trying to make decisions as to what to take.

It's my first show. I want it to be great, but not over done for a trunk show in the school parking lot.

Of course the pillows and tote bags from the Roots and Wings Collection will be making an appearance.

I've got a few pieces of furniture that I plan on taking that can do double duty as props and be for sale, including this bench.

I don't expect it will be the  target market for wedding bouquets, but I still think I will take a couple to display.  My friend Keli is the one who invited me to the show and also gave me this fabulous vintage chair. The arm has some damage and she thought I might can fix it. I really like it just the way it is and she seems to be right at home showing off a recent order.

With Mother's Day coming next week, I will have a few rustic corsages and other unique gifts available as well.  Don't you think Miss Lacy should go to help show off the corsages and sashes?

I will have one parking space to display my goods in. I think I will measure off a place out in the yard and practice setting everything up on Friday, so I'll have an idea of where everything will go.

Stay tuned to Instagram and Facebook for updates closer to time and if you're in the local East Texas area, come out and see us Saturday morning!

Earth Day - Our Recycled Yard

Happy Earth Day! As many of you know, our yard is mostly recycled / upcycled. The only thing bought new in this picture was the lights and a few of the plants. I love to call it the junk yard!

The gazebo was laying on its side, literally drug and pulled out of a ditch. The former owners had discarded two of them and our friend saw them and ask about them. As part of helping him get a gazebo home, we got one in the process and the transformation and decorating has been fun.

These two hanging buckets, have rusted out bottoms! (See how I did that by searching on the side bar.)

Several years ago, I made the desision to stop buying flower planters. The only pots I buy, come with plants in them. No plastic pots are to be seen in my yard. Either the flowers are directly planted in old containers or I slip the pots down inside a rusty vessel. A little mulch goes along way to hide the plastic containers. The chives on the right or slipped into an old tin can, while the dish pan holds an assortment of flowers and herbs. The 2-3 year old dianthus is planted in an old crock that was rescued from a trash ditch.

Framed oragano! The square planter is missing a peg foot, so it's now a hanging pot! The rusty frame came from an old wheel barrow. Once upon a time, it held flowers till the bottom rusted out. Not to throw anything away, the frame has found multiple purposes in my yard.
A few roses from this morning.
Another rusty wheelbarrow holds a load of hens and chicks.
Wild petunias. These are growing out of the stone porch, but I let the wild things grow. No extra care or cost has been endured and they are pretty!

So as you can see, we love our flowers and junk! How about you? Any recycled or upcycled containers in your yard?

Introducing the Roots and Wings Collection!

I'm so excited to announce my Roots and Wings Collection to you this week! I've been working late hours at the sewing machine, to prepare a collection of pillows, tote bags, caps and more. Here's a sampling of products that will be available later this week in my etsy shop! There's lots of cute camper pillows that would be great to decorate your vintage glamper and burlap pillows with wings and qoutes.

The bed of my camper is full of pillows and bags!

Roots and Wings Collection

I love the tv show Nashville - When I heard the song Roots and Wings sang by Sam Palladio and Gunnar Sizemore, I immediately downloaded it! Love, love, love it!

"So many place I wanna go
So many people I wanna know
I wanna stay
I wanna leave
I want it all
I've got to believe

You can have Roots and Wings
You can have everything
You can know where you're from
and still wanna fly"

Roots and Wings Collection

I came across a beautiful fabric wing at a garage sale and together it all inspired the collection.

Then there's the fabulous vintage Shasta campers with wings and my love for glampers, so that all fell into line with the theme. There's going to be several camper shopping tote bags with different color campers with assorted lace trims and fringe.

The double wings and heart are another favorite. Layers of old script or French postage stamp fabric are included with doilies, lace, and old hankies to create shabby chic, distressed wings.
"What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?" -e.h.  Last year, as I contemplated making big changes I my life, this quote would always pop up on my Instagram or pinterest feed, at just the right time! It was an encouraging word to me, to believe in my dreams and go far it. I'm planning on keeping one of these pillows in my camper.

There's also going to be a couple caps with a cross, wing and flower.

I've heard the dodge commercial with Miranda Lambert's Roots and Wings song and love it as well! We are both from the same area (I'm about an hour from her Pink Pistol store in Texas,) so I can definitely relate to having red dirt stains on my boots and jeans, calloused fingers, tall pine trees and some of the things she sings about. Sure hoping the song will be released soon, because I can't wait to hear the rest of it! Jeff's been hearing my music playing from the workroom and he ask if I had anything other than Miranda, George Strait and Nashville on my playlist? The answer: that's about it!

Roots and Wings Collection
There's going to be several vintage seed sack pillows included in the #RootsandWingsCollection. Farming, seeds, roots - all seem to go together. These are all vintage seed sacks and would be great in your farmhouse decor. I've still got to photograph a few more, before the collection goes live.
Be sure to sign up for my newsletter - you might have noticed a pop up window or there is a form on the sidebar on my blog. I'll let you know exactly when the collection will be live. I'm having a giveaway through Instagram and Facebook - like my page, repost and share the image on there and comment to enter to win $25.00 shop credit. Signing up for the newsletter will also give you one chance to win. If the winner has already purchased from the #rootsandwingscollection, they will be given a $25.00 refund. The $25.00 can be applied towards any item in my shop, including wedding and custom orders!
