First Daffodils of the Year!

It's the happy time of the year when the first daffodils of the year begin to bloom! After many dreary days of winter, its so uplifting to see the cheery yellow blooms.

This one tee-tiny. lonely little snow drop bloomed today as well!

So far there is only a few random daffodils blooming, but I am excited about the show to come. Today we started some seeds in the greenhouse and are making plans for the spring garden. Spring can't come fast enough!

What I've Been Doing...

Ms. Sally emailed me today checking on me...said it was the "grandmother" in her, so I guess its time I need to give an update here on the blog. I thought after Christmas things would slow down...wrong. That's when all the etsy convo's started coming and lots of brides are planning their rustic farm weddings. Therefore my etsy burlap and lace wedding bouquets have been keeping me busy.

First up were tan and cream burlap boutonnieres for Colleen.

The next order was for Amanda. She wanted white feather with her burlap roses and lace.

Of course, all the while I work full time and like to chase sunsets in the evening on the way home. I am trying to post a photo a day on Instagram and this barbed wire sunset was one of my recent entries.

Burlap and Lace Wedding flowers
If you remember I did a large order for Ann last fall and she contacted me wanting to add pink burlap boutonnieres to their wedding.

Next came Morgan's red burlap roses. She had several bouquets for her wedding.
This was another photo a day picture. We also have a farm to run.

I'm extremely thankful for my husband who helps me with everything. We are partners together and he helps me out from time to time. He's really been getting to know the mail lady this month as he handles shipping and receiving packages.

I have great news too! I contacted a friend a few weeks ago about modeling some bouquets for me for a photo shoot. Well she called me this week and was so excited...She's getting married! She is going to carry one of my bouquets and I am going to be the wedding coordinator, decorator, and photographer! So this means that in April, we will have lots of pictures from her farm wedding. Its going to be vintage - western, outdoors in the cow pasture.

So that is how January has been. I want to thank ALL the brides and families that have chosen GypsyFarmGirl for their wedding bouquets! Thank you for keeping me busy this month! I send my Best Wishes and Congratulations for your Wedding Day.

Instagram Photo A Day

When the new year started, I decided to attempt a photo a day project on Instagram. I'm not following along with anyone's prompts, just documenting something that is going on in my little world on that particular day. Sometimes its sunsets or sky pictures, projects I'm working on, a glimpse from the farm, or maybe something completely random.

"1.11 I had to stop by the lake to capture the sunset on the way home tonight. #nofilter #sunset"

This photo came out of sheer coincidence Friday evening, 1-11. I got off a few minutes late because someone else was late picking up flowers. I then went to the bank and then the train was coming and I decided to take the back roads out of town because I knew the main highway would be backed up with traffic due to the 5:30 train. This led me to driving by the lake on the way home. I had to stop and take a picture of the sunset!

I had no idea what my photo a day pic was going to be till I stopped at this point on the lake. This picture was taken by my phone, although I did take a few more pictures with my camera. It was the perfect start to the weekend!

Do you Instagram? If so let me know what your user name is. I would love to follow along with your journies as well.

Red, Cream, and Tan Burlap and Lace Bouquets

Amanda contacted me through etsy about creating wedding bouquets for her destination wedding this spring. She decided on red, cream, and tan burlap, ivory lace, lots of feathers, and pearls.

Here is a group shot of her bridal bouquet, two bridesmaid bouquets, and toss bouquet.
In our etsy convo, Amanda asked if I had any pictures of brides holding bouquets. I told her not yet. I have an open invitation to any bride that chooses my burlap and lace bouquets to share pictures and be featured here on my blog. I've also thought about hiring a model for a photo shoot, but it just hasn't happened yet. Amanda says she will send me some pics modeling the bouquets and I certainly hope that she does. Until then, I'll just have to come up with different props to help display my bouquets, like my grandmother's old typewriter for this shoot tonight.
Thank you Amanda for choosing my bouquets and work to be a part of your wedding day. My Congratulations and Best Wishes to You for a Wonderful Wedding Day and a Happy Marriage!
